The University of Nevada Las Vegas
has a mission to provide state
of the art facilities for teaching
and student learning. In an effort
to meet these goals we were selected
to design UNLV's new 190,000 sq.
ft. Science, Engineering and Technology
Building.
Our
team was chosen to provide integrated
services including building
system engineering, a new energy
plant and LEEDTM consulting
services. The engineering driven
facility will include a Class
1000 rated Nano Lab, Campus
Supercomputer and new Satellite
Energy Plant.
Technological
advancement and responsible
use of resources is critical
to the building. The LEEDTM
process is strictly being adhered
to in the design of this project
in order to maximize efficiency
and minimize consumption of
natural resources while maintaining
a high-tech operation. Features
include water conserving toilets
and urinals, water efficient
landscaping and possible use
of gray water for irrigation,
daylighting controls and occupancy
sensors to control the lighting,
increased ventilation effectiveness
and improved indoor air quality.
