Harrah's
East Chicago
Chicago, Illinois
Our team was asked to lead the
electrical design of the Harrah's
East Chicago project that includes
the expansion of existing facilities
and extending east towards the
ship, which serves as the casino.
Ace's Diner, located on the
second level, has been the primary
focus of the expansion. This
quick-serve diner has a retro-50's
theme with pictures, artwork
and overall décor based
on the late 1950's. Jukebox
music selector menus are provided
at a majority of booths to allow
personalized selections by diners.
The floor is an even, diagonal
mix of black and white tiles,
with red-accent coves and columns,
which lends itself well to present
the era.
Three large video screens on
the south wall display photos
and movies of this time. Music
is set well at a background
level, selectively playing rock
and roll from the 50's.
Initially we were asked to extend
power into a new warehouse area
immediately below Ace's Diner,
from the existing electrical
service. This power was originally
intended for the warehouse,
Ace's Diner and a new Promotion's
Center. The scope quickly expanded
to include the renovation and
addition to Harrah's Diamond
Lounge on the second level.
Along with the power distribution,
power was designed for the kitchen
at Ace's Diner. The modest kitchen
is designed for quick-serve
meals, however it has the capacity
to support the preparation of
entrees on a high-volume level
should the need arise.
General lighting is provided
with low-voltage downlights,
along with fluorescent cove
lighting. Accent lighting is
accomplished with red neon above
back counters, along columns
and on only two sides of windows,
which are installed diagonally
at a 45-degree angle.
The attention to detail throughout
captures the tone of the 50's
and is sure to bring about feelings
of nostalgia with patrons.

resort hotel/casino located
in the center of the Las Vegas
Strip, is well known for providing
its guests with first-rate services

the 33rd, 34th and 35th floors
into luxury suites.
We
were asked to provide mechanical,
plumbing and electrical engineering
design services to incorporate
features that contribute to
the guest's experience. These
well-appointed rooms will include
kitchens, upgraded plumbing
fixtures, whirlpool bathtubs,
steam showers, and new HVAC
systems with hidden fan-coil
units and acoustically treated
ductwork to provide soundless
air movement throughout the
suites. The air distribution
will be nearly invisible through
linear slots in the architectural
soffits and cove-light moldings.
Electrical upgrades to the suites
boast of the latest AV systems
technology with plasma televisions
placed throughout, including
media rooms, bedrooms and lounges.
In addition, a new elevator
was added to allow access exclusively
to rooms on these levels.

with the client and the contractor
to understand and effectively
implement the client's goals
and requirements, and maintain
project cost and schedule control
to bring the project in on budget.

the overall development of the

of this ongoing development
effort.
MonteLago

When developers of Lake Las
Vegas began to plan an exclusive
development of high-rise condominiums
and support retail known as
MonteLago Village, we were selected
to design the building systems.
The systems we designed included
electrical distribution, emergency
power, fire alarm, lighting,
telephone and cable TV. The
MonteLago Village project features
300,000 sq. ft. with an additional
50,000 sq. ft. in remote retail
shops, which are carefully arranged
in an Old Italian style setting
with stone streets and Old Italian
storefronts, to complement the
architectural theme of the site.

national expert in integrated
hotel/casino design, our team
was selected by this hotel developer
to help remodel the lighting
and surveillance systems for
the Santa Fe Station casino.
Based on the initial success
of our work, our scope was expanded
to include mechanical and plumbing
systems as well.
As advocates of the teamwork/partnering
concept, we worked closely with
the client to become familiar
with their goals and needs as
well as development of corporate
standards for the Owner. We
implemented systems that surpassed
their expectations while effectively
managing project costs.
Santa
Fe Station, Central Plant
Las Vegas, Nevada
Station Casinos is a successful
gaming operator in Las Vegas
catering to neighborhood (local)
players. They consistently strive
to improve their properties
to maintain a comfortable and
attractive environment for customers.
We were brought in to apply
this same focus while designing
the electrical requirements
for a new 2,400 sq. ft. Central
Plant, which includes a replacement
chiller and boiler plant. The
chiller capacity is 2,400 Tons
with space for a future 600
Ton unit; two existing chillers
will be relocated from the existing
central plant, which is being
remodeled into a new lobby and
entrance to the (future) movie
theaters and casino expansion.
These improvements will provide
for ample expansion of the systems
in order to accommodate future
growth and Santa Fe Station
requirements.
Harrah's
Rincon Casino & Resort,
Hotel Tower Phase II
San Diego, California
Since opening its doors in 2002,
Harrah's Rincon has received
such an overwhelming positive
customer response that it found
it impossible to handle the
high volume of guests who wanted
to stay in the hotel. Realizing
the enormous potential to retain
and attract customers, Harrah's
Rincon moved forward to expand
the hotel. Our team was brought
in to provide electrical design
to the new 500-key hotel tower.
The additional rooms will help
boost the numbers of overnight
visitors to the resort, thus
increasing the foot traffic
throughout the property.
