Hawaiian
Marketplace
Las Vegas, Nevada
This new retail hub, located
in the heart of the Las Vegas
Strip, encompasses an area of
80,000 square feet. The Owners
sought to create a Polynesian-themed
complex that would bring some
warm Hawaiian hospitality to
this bustling city. Slated to
open during summer 2004, this
unique venue includes shopping,
restaurants and entertainment
that caters to locals and visitors
alike.
Our
team was brought onboard to
design key mechanical, plumbing
and electrical systems for this
complex, which includes a food
court, Hamada of Japan restaurant
and a bird animatronics show,
among its many offerings.
We
provided a special power panel
for concert performances at
the performance balcony, and
theatrical lighting and A/V
devices for the bird animatronics
show. Mechanical systems utilized
rooftop gas-fired units, rooftop
heat pump units, fan-coil units
and ductless split system AC
units. An exhaust fan with sound
attenuator was incorporated
to reduce noise levels in the
garage.
Guggenheim
Art Exhibition Hall/The Venetian
Resort - Kunsthalle
Las Vegas, Nevada
The Guggenheim Art Exhibition
Hall, located in the world-famous
Venetian Resort in Las Vegas,
is designed to bring a taste
of fine art to the Southwest.
We were brought on as a part
of an integrated design team,
providing mechanical systems
design expertise to ensure that
this exhibition hall retains
a perfect temperature balance
- providing both comfort for
visitors as well as preserving
the integrity of the artwork.
Five principal factors are considered
critical to the success of this
design: proper air temperature,
humidity, and circulation; removal
of air-borne pollutants; and
ambient sound level management.
We introduced ultrasonic humidifiers
into the design of this facility,
significantly reducing the amount
of energy normally required
for such units. At the same
time, vaporized water generated
by the humidifiers create additional
cooling and lower the total
air-cooling load.
A
unique air distribution concept
for the main exhibition hall
designed by our team utilizes
jet nozzles positioned on opposite
walls some 42 feet above floor.
At the same time, additional
displacement flow diffusers
will be provided at the floor
level, also on opposite sides
of the exhibition hall, creating
a complete microclimate system
around the display wall surfaces.
A DDC control system is used
to closely monitor air temperature,
humidity and pressure throughout
the space.
Las
Vegas Convention Center - South
Expansion
Las Vegas, Nevada
As Las Vegas continues to grow
as a popular destination for
national and international conventions,
the Las Vegas Convention and
Visitors Authority (LVCVA) was
approached by a consortium of
exhibitioners, including COMDEX
and the Consumer Electronics
Show (CES), expressing an urgent
need for an additional 1,000,000
square feet of exhibition space.
Our
team was brought in to design
the building systems for the
expansion. The two-story expansion
consists of 1,000,000 sq. ft.
of exhibit space; each floor
consists of 500,000 sq. ft.,
and the upper floor is rated
at 300 pounds per square inch.
Also included in the design
is 400,000 sq. ft. of meeting
room and support space, spanning
the Desert Inn Arterial.
The
project was completed under
an accelerated delivery process.
Ritz
Carlton - MonteLago Village
Las Vegas, Nevada
Lake Las Vegas, one of the southwest's
most exclusive communities,
is now home to a luxurious four-star
resort. The Ritz Carlton name
is recognized for a world-class
level of amenities, and this
350-key, eight-story hotel and
casino features over 41,000
sq. ft. of meeting room spaces,
a large spa facility and a 30,000
sq. ft. casino.
As the building systems engineer
for the electrical portion of
the project, we worked closely
with the client and the contractor
to understand and effectively
implement the client's goals
and requirements, and maintain
project cost and schedule control
to bring the project in on budget.
We continue to be involved with
the overall development of the
Lake Las Vegas area, as a part
of this ongoing development
effort.
MonteLago
Village - Condominiums and Retail
Las Vegas, Nevada
When developers of Lake Las
Vegas began to plan an exclusive
development of high-rise condominiums
and support retail known as
MonteLago Village, we were selected
to design the building systems.
The systems we designed included
electrical distribution, emergency
power, fire alarm, lighting,
telephone and cable TV. The
MonteLago Village project features
300,000 sq. ft. with an additional
50,000 sq. ft. in remote retail
shops, which are carefully arranged
in an Old Italian style setting
with stone streets and Old Italian
storefronts, to complement the
architectural theme of the site.
